Our present location on the corner of Ann Arbor-Saline and Ellsworth Roads is the fourth home for the UUAA since our founding in 1865 as the First Unitarian Society of Ann Arbor. Two of our former homes are registered historic buildings. (Click to view photos of our historic UU churches in Ann Arbor.)
Built in 1998 on 45 acres of grasslands and woodlands, UUAA offers several panoramic views of the countryside. The present building was designed by local architect David Osler, a recipient of numerous honors and awards.
In November 2004, we finished and dedicated our bright and cheerful classroom wing.
Our Artwork and Furnishings
We have an Arts and Aesthetics Team that helps us find ways to reflect our values and aspirations in the artwork and furnishings in our church building. You can read more about the artwork in our building...
Our beautiful 45 acres of land includes a prairie, organic gardens, an outdoor worship area, and hiking trails. Our Site Master Plan, adopted in 2012, guides our use of the land.
Volunteers maintain 2 miles of hiking trails through meadows and wooded areas south of the congregation's building. A kiosk at the south edge of the lawn, Behind the Social Hall area, shows the trail map and marks the start of the trails.
