bridgehandBridge Mix

When: Second Sunday of each month, 2:00pm (unless UUAA is on summer single service schedule)
Where: UUAA Social Hall
Contact: Karen Bourdon

The First UU Bridge group meets in the Social Hall on the second Sunday of each month, September thru June. Sometimes the date is moved by one week for holidays.  We start at 2:00pm and end at 5:00pm unless Sunday worship has switched to one service per week, in which case play begins earlier. The group plays Chicago Bridge, which is essentially the same as Rubber Bridge except that each hand is scored by itself - without carryovers to another hand. We play a friendly game with all levels of skill.

We keep each month's score and name a winner after each 10 months of play. There are usually six tables of bridge accommodating 12 teams each month. Each team is called upon to supply snacks and cold drinks once per year. We invite anyone interested in playing to contact us. We can find a partner for you, or you can bring your own!

Please join us for LUUnch, a casual, informal monthly get together where we can eat and chat with one another. Everyone is welcome and there is no set agenda. It is a nice way to meet people in the congregation and relax a bit. Typically about 6 to 10 people attend, and there is a mix of "regulars" and newcomers. About half the time, one of the ministers attends as well. Drop in and look for our table.

If you would like to meet and get to know more UUs while eating diverse foods in a casual social setting, then consider participating in the RR Dinners. These dinners are structured potlucks held in our homes, each consisting of about eight adults with hosting homes and dining companions changing each month. Each person is asked to bring an item (appetizer, wine, nonalcoholic beverage, salad, bread, main course, vegetable, dessert) unless they are hosting a dinner in their home. This UU program is open to all adults (members, nonmembers, young, old, gay, straight, single, partnered, married, etc.) and is the way many of us have gotten to know other UUs.

Options:

  • Sign up as a "regular" participant: Specify months you already know you won't be able to attend and/or cancel on a month-by-month basis, at least two weeks before the scheduled dinner. You can cancel as many months as you want, but by checking this option you will definitely be included in a dinner unless you cancel. If you chose to be a regular, you MUST send us notice if you do not want to participate.
  • Sign up as a "will call" participant: Email or call the coordinator when you want to be included in a dinner. If you email or call at least two weeks before the scheduled dinner, you are certain to be included in a dinner; if you wait until nearer the scheduled dinner, we will probably be able to include you.
