Yes, it's time to get back in the soil for season six at Farmer Bill Schmid's, growing and harvesting veggies for Food Gatherer's.

Fresh produce is one of the top needs for those who suffer from food insecurity. Last year, our volunteer efforts led to over 3,200 pounds of fresh produce and another $3,500 in cash donations to help fight hunger in Washtenaw County.

Volunteers work 2-hour shifts on Monday or Thursday evenings or Saturday mornings, at a property right around the corner from UUAA. We plant seeds and seedlings, weed, water, nurture, and harvest a vast array of vegetables as part of Food Gatherer's Faith & Food Garden program. Come once or come often - it's fun, it's healthy, and it's very worthwhile! Our big kick-off is Saturday, May 27, and we need your help.
