<div dir="ltr"><div class="gmail_default" style="font-size:large">Tom captured the gist of our two Retreat planning meetings. A few other notes to share:<br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-size:large"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-size:large">• What to do about T-shirts?<br>• Retreat is 25 years old. At some point (in lodges? whole group?), we should discuss what the retreat should look like going forward:<br>     ◦ Should we use the term "retreat"?  The word "Men's"?<br>     ◦ Should we change the format? How and why?<br> ◦ Should this be a church-wide activity day? Like community hikes.<br>  ◦ Should we stay on campus or go to a different location?<br>   ◦ One-day or full weekend?<br>  ◦ What has worked well = what do we want to keep? What do we want to drop?<br>  ◦ In the past 25 years, which other church initiatives have started up, but not lasted until today?<br> ◦ Tom's key question: Who are we serving by offering the "retreat" in its current format?<br><br>Also, should we invite board members to join us for dinner? Comp them the dinner?<br><br>1:30 registration<br>2: in-gathering<br>2:30-4. Lodge<br>4-5 Choice time<br>5:15 Group picture<br>5:30-6:30 Dinner<br>After: 2nd lodge<br>Bonfire<br><br>At the retreat: Promote the next Saturday's men's breakfast.<br></div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Tue, Jul 25, 2023 at 2:13 PM Tom Chettleburgh <<a href="mailto:tchettleburgh@gmail.com">tchettleburgh@gmail.com</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left-width:1px;border-left-style:solid;border-left-color:rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex"><div dir="ltr">I will be at the meeting; however, I cannot stay late (past 9:30 AM).  Here are the Retreat and Circle Liaison Reports--<div><br></div><div><b><u>Retreat</u></b>:  The leaders of the retreat committee (Tim Miller, Bob Dinan,Tom C, Jim Schaefer, and Casey Jackson) met twice since our last meeting and have a theme and schedule.</div><div><ul><li>Mixed Bag Cafe (and as Tom loves the slogan, "No shirt, full service")</li><li>Saturday, Sept 30th, registration starting at 1:30 PM, retreat starting at 2:00 PM with a short in-gathering, followed by lodge meetings, dinner, free time and a bonfire, weather permitting.</li><li>One conflict:  Manish scheduled a Board Retreat the same day from 12:00 to 4:00.  This will prevent both members of the board and leadership development team from attending the first two hours of the retreat.</li><li>We would like to offer child care costs to those who request it.</li><li>Food--we have done Jerusalem Garden in the past.  Other ideas?</li></ul><div><b><u>Circle Liaison</u></b>:  </div><div><ul><li>I had 5 men interested in joining circles.  I contacted all five and referred them to the two circles looking for additional members (Jerry's Circle, in person; and #10, zoom only).  Greg Smith and Vinny are meeting with Jerry's Circle.  The other 3 men (Dale Johnson, Ben Kassmussen, and Bruce Gibb) did not respond.</li><li>I am thinking of inviting a member from each circle to meet prior to our fall retreat on September 30th.</li></ul></div></div></div>
