[A2VeganPotlucks] August 10th Potluck recipes and summary

Today 18 of us got together. Today’s discussion focused on: (1) the value of adding natto to your diet; find it in Asian markets; recipes are available online. (2) How to get iodine into your plant-based diet; sources are nori, dulce, armae, and wakame seaweeds; avoid azeekee (contains arsenic) and kelp (too much iodine); information from nutritionfacts.org. 

On Thursday, September 19, 6:00-9:30 pm, Dr. Neal Barnard will speak at Seaholm High School, Birmingham, MI. Get your tickets at PBNSG.org. 

On Tuesday, October 1, starting at 6:30 pm, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr., and Brian Hart speak for free at the Ypsilanti Senior Center, 1015 Congress, Ypsilanti, MI Reservations only. Get your reservations at olmstedjoyce at gmail.com.

On Sunday, October 20, 1:15-3:00 pm, Katie Johnson and Kim Korona of VegMichigan will speak at UUAA (Fahs Chapel) on the connection between food and climate. There will be plant-based food samples from local restaurants, free bags of plant-based foods, and how to do a 30-day plant-based eating pledge program.
