[menscouncil] End-of-year celebration

Gentlemen,

You may have read about this celebration planned for June 9. We have been
asked to provide some input.

Here's what the original email requested:

A group of congregants and staff are organizing an end-of-year celebration
on Sunday, June 9th, 11:30am - 1:00pm,  designed to celebrate the myriad
contributions made by UUAA’s lay members.

The theme is fun: a fair with an ice cream bar, music, bounce house
(weather permitting), chalice tattoos, crafts, and plenty of other
activities for folks of all ages.

Most importantly, we will be celebrating the contribution of each and every
group and team at UUAA - from the SGD team, to those who build community,
to those who lead social justice efforts, to those who care for us and our
physical plant week in and week out, and more.  In total, there are nearly
70 unique teams with lay members at UUAA, each contributing something
special to our community. We hope your team’s members come - to be
celebrated and to celebrate!

*Here’s what else we need from you: we are preparing a rotating slide deck
for the big-screen TV in the Social Hall to play on June 9th with a slide
for each of the nearly 70 teams/groups. Your group will have a slide. We’d
like to share up to 30 words - more of a "shout out" than a report. You
choose the 30 words - we’ll take it from there.  Please send them
to Vision at uuaa.org <Vision at uuaa.org> by May 15, 2024.*


Thirty words - that's not a lot! Below is what I propose to send them. This
is not mission-critical, but I did want to give everyone a chance to see
this before I send it. Plus that fact that it's due by May 15, before our
next meeting. So an agenda item then would be too late.

I welcome your comments by Thursday morning, when I will forward it so that
I don't forget to do it later. (I whittled it to 31 words - I hope they
accept my 1-over!)

The Men’s Council celebrates:


   - The relaunch of our monthly “Men’s Night Out”
   - A successful spring dinner in April
   - Our 25th anniversary retreat this fall

We welcome all men in the congregation!
