Hello members of the UUAA Restorative Justice group (RJUUAA),

It has been a long time since we contacted you, but hoping you are still
interested in working on restorative justice issues. There is a lot going
on. One way we could connect again is through a* zoom meeting. *We
could catch up or just see each other again. Let us know if that is
something you would like.

Meanwhile, we are lucky enough to have *some money to spend*. Last year we
requested money from the Social Justice Council and received $700 for
program year 2020 for RJUUAA. We spent $100 on training for the Parole
Readiness program at the Women’s Huron Valley Correctional Facility for a
group of volunteers. Thus *$600 remains* that needs to be spent *by the
end of this year*. Some ideas (and open to others):

1. Donation to The Dispute Resolution Center in support of their "Free,
3-part showing and discussion of *Healing Justice* for BIPOC (black,
indigenous, people of color) men. In partnership with My Brother’s Keeper
of Washtenaw County (September 12, 26, October 10). Will be shown on
Facebook Live. (see attached flyer). *Suggested $300*

2. Buy and send blank writing journals to women in the Women’s Huron
Valley Correctional Facility as part of “Resilience” and parole readiness
programs. Focus of this effort is aimed at women in NLA (National Lifers
Association). *Suggested $100*

3. *HELP -- more i**deas for September – December 2020 for **spending*
the *remaining $200*???

ALSO we will be asked soon how much money we would like for the 2021
program year. So PLEASE think of some ideas. Here are a couple
suggestions.

*Suggested programs for RJUUAA 2021 year *-* Suggest we ask for $1000*

1. Institutional membership in the NACRJ (National Association of
Community and Restorative Justice). Conference in Chicago *(just moved to
July 8-10, *2022*) but memberships includes 5 sponsored members (who could
attend the conference). See attached flyer and link (https://nacrj.org/).
<https://nacrj.org/> Membership includes access to videos, resources,
publications, contacts with other RJ providers, conferences. Membership
for institutions* $300/year*

2. Purchase films on restorative justice to show at UUAA (or stream
through zoom) and other venues (although Brave new Films has some
freebies) *suggested
$200.*

4. Co-sponsor a speaker for a forum on restorative justice and
equity/or restorative justice and mass incarceration *suggested $200*

5. Training for VOC/circle facilitators *suggested $300*

6. *Other ideas??*
Thanks very much! We look forward to working with you again.
