Hi there,
Kathy and I will be sending out an agenda for next week's meeting:
Wednesday, September 29th at UUAA 4:00
and one of the things on the agenda will be to discuss Sally's proposal.
Whether we do or not, it's worth
seeing the trailer, you might recognize one of our judges Tim Connors who
has promoted peacemaking circles
in Washtenaw County Court. He's been supportive of restorative justice
from the beginning.

“People say, what is the sense of our small effort? They cannot see that we
must lay one brick at a time, take one step at a time. A pebble cast into a
pond causes ripples that spread in all directions. Each one of our
thoughts, words and deeds is like that. No one has a right to sit down and
feel hopeless. There is too much work to do.” *Dorothy Day*

Good morning Carolyn,

I assume that you also received this email from Audrey Geyer. I watched the
trailer for this documentary and found it to be compelling. I know that you
have a big indoor event planned for October 17th. This documentary is also
about restorative justice as it relates to native peoples. Would your group
be interested in this? I thought it might be something that you could
partner with RJA. What are your thoughts?

Sally

Hello,

I am an independent video producer in the Metro Detroit area. My nonprofit,
Visions, recently completed a one hour documentary on Michigan Native
Americans entitled, "Warrior Lawyers: Defenders of Sacred Justice." This
documentary is currently airing on *PBS.*

I am wondering if you would be interested in organizing a *community
screening* and Q&A with the filmmaker either in-person or virtually. The
documentary is also available for *DVD and Streaming *purchase at
www.warriorlawyers.org. <http://www.warriorlawyers.org./>

Here is the link to the trailer: https://vimeo.com/365613227. A synopsis
is included below. The target audience is middle school to adult
viewers. Native American Heritage Month is in November.

Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to a reply.

*Synopsis: 'Warrior Lawyers: Defenders of Sacred Justice'*

'Warrior Lawyers' (2021) is a one-hour PBS documentary that is particularly
timely and relevant given our country's current reckoning with racial
inequity and institutional racism. The program focuses on the stories of
Native American Lawyers, Tribal Judges and their colleagues who work with
Native Nations and their citizens to achieve Sacred Justice. These unseen
role models strive daily to address and resolve unique and complicated
historical, governmental, legal, judicial and social welfare issues, which
are most often rooted in discrimination, historical trauma and cultural
destruction. Come take a journey into past and present day Indian Country
to learn of untold stories that shine a light on Native Americans rising up
to create a new path for today and for the next Seven Generations.
