Hi Everyone--
Yes, the rally to shed light on the terrible conditions at WHV, and to
advocate for change and decarceration is on for *this Sunday at noon*. Here
is the flier, tho all the supporting logos are not on it in this version. I
plan to go, and am happy to pick up a few ppl as I head east from
Chelsea--LMK if you want a ride.
Also, there is a lot of activity to document all the problems and to engage
key legislators and possibly Eli Savit (is MDOC breaking the law? ...) get
them to go in unannounced [shhh for now] to view conditions themselves,
etc, and start addressing the longstanding problems. In a moment I will
forward separately the follow-up email that Natalie sent out after the
meeting last Friday. It includes notes from that meeting and a letter
Natalie is sending to stakeholders. Please read to see what's happening and
how you might engage.
Also stay tuned for a message from me within the week re: reactivating
sending messages of connection and care to the women inside as Covid surges
there.
Love,
ML
