Unhoused Venezuelan Family Housed!
In December, 2023, the Immigration Action Coalition heard from Washtenaw Interfaith Coalition for Immigration Rights that an 18-month old baby and his parents were residing at Mott’s Children’s Hospital. The baby had been admitted a few weeks earlier after contracting a serious infection during his journey to the US with his mother. The baby was finally back to health and ready to be released, but the hospital would not release him as the family was unhoused.
Mott’s, WICIR, and IAC worked together to pay their security deposit with two month’s rent, gather basic household items, collect clothes, and provide gift cards to get them started here in Washtenaw County. Immigration Action Coalition’s work is often directly related to housing. Thank you to our volunteers and financial supporters who made this happen!
