UUAA’s Climate Action | Climate Justice Team and Racial Justice Arc have been working together to present new perspectives on the intersecting justice issues of climate and race this year. The series is focused on Climate Resilience and will look at climate issues from indigenous perspectives, millennial perspectives, and perspectives from residents of Ypsilanti and Detroit.

Sept. 18th
Resilience Hub Webinar – A Green Sanctuary 2030 event from Siding with Love. As climate change increases heat waves, floods, air quality alerts and more, what can UU congregations do to support our communities? 60 participants from congregations in the US and Canada gathered at this webinar to learn how UU congregations might serve as resilience hubs. UUAA was one of the presenting congregations. Seven other congregations from different sizes and configurations of congregations addressed climate resilience needs in their specific communities. Book Community Read & discuss: Radically Reframing Climate Change by Will Hackman
This book is the 2026-27 Community Read for the UU Ministry for Earth (they will hold monthly zoom sessions)
UUAA will hold our own discussion(s) – time and place to be determined by your responses to this survey!
Will Hackman is a Millennial, and he is pissed. Millennials and Gen-Zers will be left to deal with the worst of the climate change fallout well after those responsible have passed away. Hackman’s response? Radically Reframing Climate Change

Movie and Discussion on indigenous perspectives to climate resilience: We will watch the award winning documentary Inhabitants: Indigenous Perspectives on Restoring Our World. This is a 2021 feature documentary that follows five Native American and Indigenous communities as they revive traditional land management practices to combat climate change and environmental disruption.
Suitable for teens and up (due to length); run time 75 mins.

We are planning a guided bus tour to “the most polluted zip code in Detroit” to learn about the intersections between climate, racial, economic… justice. The tour will be led by activist Theresa Landrum. More details and a firm date will be coming.
