The WomUUn’s Community refers to all participants, regardless of their specific gender identity.
We recognize that the concept of a women’s community can be exclusionary and reinforces the gender binary in a way that does not resonate with our entire community. Please know that all activities are open not only to women (both cis and trans), but also to anyone with a marginalized gender identity, including non-binary and transmasc folks. We know that our language and social structures are imperfect and welcome conversations about this topic.

Our Mission Statement
The UUAA WomUUn’s Council provides structure and leadership to coordinate events, activities, educational programming and pastoral support for women or others with marginalized gender identities.
Alignment with UUAA’s core values and the Board’s strategic plan
The WomUUn’s Council supports the goals of the UUAA by providing a stronger individual and group ministry for womUUn in our congregation. The group is helping to maintain the essential component of pastoral care in our ministries by providing a supportive and welcoming online and interpersonal network to nurture commitment to our UU community and to deepen our connections with each other. This Council provides an outreach to UU folks who may not be able to attend regularly on Sundays but who still have a desire to be part of our UUAA WomUUn’s Community.
Promoting UUAA core values within the congregation and wider communities
Participation in WomUUn’s Community is open to those active at UUAA and in the larger community. Our events are always welcoming to guests who may be curious to explore Unitarian Universalism and the values we hold dear. Our activities may be advertised in appropriate media such as MLive, the Ann Arbor Observer, through social media of the group and individual members, and more. All of our programming adheres to the UU seven core principles and operates within the guidelines and governance of this congregation.
