At our Earth Day celebration April 23, 2023, the congregation carried the Earth, the Water, the Fire and Air from the service to the area marked to become UUAA’s “Ancestors’ Grove of trees.” Then at the 2024 Earth Day service we honored the trees that are thriving in the grove.
The trees in the grove honor stewardship of our land– by our congregation and by others who preceded us on the land.
The grove will memorialize some of our UUAA congregants who are now our ancestors.
Trees were planted May 16, 2023 when the weather was just right. The grove now includes:
- Service Berry
- Tulip Tree
- Swamp White Oak
- Burr Oak (shown in photograph)
- Duraheat River Birch
- Autumn Blaze Red Maple
Thank you to our UUAA Landscaping Team for their thoughtful work on our new climate-friendly landscaping plan, a part of UUAA’s Vision 2050 climate and environmental goals and our UUAA Climate Action Plan.
