Earlier this year, a bunch of us Kaleidoscope folks wanted to have a retreat that wasn’t just for men or just for women. We wanted to create a space and time for queer folks and their adjacent people to step out of the daily routine and escape for fun, companionship, and learning.

We wanted it to be free. That means having it at UUAA, which is huge and has tons of rooms and 40 acres of woods, so it works for a retreat.

The overnight accommodations are bring-your-own mattress or cot and a sleeping bag and pillow, but it’s only one night, and the sleepover is optional.

For food, we do have a budget, and also lunch is potluck, so that saves money and insures there is something each person likes to eat. We just need to know about dietary restrictions so we can buy breakfast and dinner.

You may be wondering about the workshops. Here are the ones we have leaders for: Ritual 101, Panel of Queer Elders, Yuri (Japanese queer media), Art Journal Collage, Half Court Basketball, Responding to the Anti-Trans Movement, Fiber Arts, and more. We hope to find a song leader and have yoga as well.

If you want to lead a workshop not already listed, let me know!

There will be a quiet room for reading or decompressing, open the whole time. The outside doors will be locked during the event, with dedicated door monitors to open them as needed.
