About Ann Arbor UUJME
Ann Arbor Unitarian Universalists for Justice in the Middle East (AAUUJME) has been a social justice group at the First Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Ann Arbor since 2000. We are one of 20 chapters affiliated with the national UUJME organization.
We are committed to working for peace and justice in the Middle East that affirms the equality, dignity, freedom and security of Israelis and Palestinians. This means ending the oppressive military occupation of the Palestinian territories and addressing the seven decades-old refugee crisis. We are guided by the Unitarian Universalist principles, United Nations resolutions, the Geneva Conventions, and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
We stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people in their struggle for freedom and justice, and resistance against ethnic cleansing and oppression. We educate our community about the history and current realities of Israel-Palestine, and advocate peace and security for both Palestinians and Israelis. We oppose U.S. military, diplomatic, and financial support for Israel’s occupation, colonization, and disproportionate assaults. We support non-violent protest by Palestinian and Israeli peace activists, including the Boycott, Divestment & Sanctions Movement.
Monthly Meetings are on the 3rd Wednesdays at 7:00pm EST (via Zoom)
