Food Justice: Take the Food Waste Challenge

Food Justice: Take the Food Waste Challenge

Sunday, June 9 – Friday, June 14

Shockingly, the average US household wastes 35% of their food, with food waste accounting for greenhouse gas emissions equal to the annual emissions of 42 coal-fired power plants (more info here)!  Besides the environmental impact, this food waste is also costly.

Fortunately, there’s help coming. Join the A2ZERO Food Waste Challenge and learn how simple adaptations to your food shopping, prep, consumption, and disposal can help reduce your carbon footprint and save money. You’ll get:

  • Emailed tips on how to reduce your food waste
  • Info on tracking your food waste and completing a food waste audit
  • Links to related events throughout the week
  • A chance to win prizes, and more!

The timing couldn’t be better! As UUAA is working towards Zero Waste, please consider tackling this issue at home. Contact foodjustice@uuaa.org with questions.
