Food Justice: Good Food and Equity

Second Wave Media recently completed a series of articles on “Good Food.” These stories touched on how access to healthy food can drive economic growth and create jobs in underserved communities, and how good food practices can lead to equity and sustainability.

“How 10 Cents a Meal Brings Healthy Food to More Michigan Kids” is one such article, focusing on how eligible schools and childcare facilities receive money from the state when they provide children with produce grown in Michigan. Not only does this program benefit children in providing locally grown fruits, vegetables, and legumes, but it also impacts Michigan farmers and food producers.
