Hello, Darkness, My Old Friend: A Winter Solstice Service for All Ages
As we approach the longest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, let us consider the gifts of rest, renewal, and rebirth that this time of year offers us. The Winter Solstice provides an opportunity to welcome the magic, wonder, and wisdom of darkness. Join us for this multigenerational service as we embrace the shortest day of the year through stories, music, and ritual.
The Chalice Sparks will add their voices to the solstice celebration in the second service.
Please note schedule changes for the remainder of December: On Sunday December 22 there will be only ONE SERVICE at 10:30 am. Tuesday, December 24 will be our annual 4:30pm kid and family friendly service with a fun, new pageant that asks us to consider what really matters about Christmas. This is followed by two evening services of carols and lessons, at 7:00pm and 9:00pm, with the Chalice Singers and Chalice Bells adding to the joy. All three services end in candlelight. On Sunday December 29 there will be NO IN-PERSON SERVICE AT UUAA. A link will be provided to view the December 29 service of our UU friends in Lansing (at 10:30 am).
A PDF version of the order of service is available by Saturday of each week at https://uuaa.org/oos [use the electronic version to help UUAA with our Zero Waste goal.]
