Special Congregational Meeting, June 28th

“Response to Action of Immediate Witness: Solidarity with Palestinians” Resolution

The meeting will be on Zoom at 9:00 am, June 28, 2025. Please use this link to register for this Zoom Congregational meeting.

The Board of Trustees has scheduled a Special Congregational Meeting to allow the congregation to vote on whether to adopt a congregational resolution titled “Response to Action of Immediate Witness: Solidarity with Palestinians”. The “Solidarity with Palestinians” Action of Immediate Witness (AIW) was adopted by delegates at the 2024 UUA General Assembly. It asks us to pledge to be an apartheid-free community and to witness, educate, and advocate in solidarity with Palestinians in their struggle for freedom and equality. The proposed congregational resolution is sponsored by UUAA’s UUs for Justice in the Middle East, Immigration Action Coalition, Racial Justice Arc and Restorative Justice groups.

Resolution Process

Since a congregational resolution speaks for the entire UUAA congregation, the Board of Trustees adopted a process for resolution approval that is meant to ensure that at the end of voting, all members feel they have been heard and have had opportunity to give input on the wording, and that the resolution truly reflects the opinion of the vast majority of the congregation. A resolution is meant to unite, not divide the community.
