Book ‘Defiantly Joyful’ Visits LGBTQIA+ History

The new book, Defiantly Joyful: Unitarian Universalist LGBTQIA+ Histories featuring the voices of Senior Minister Rev. Manish Mishra-Marzetti and edited by the Rev. Diana McLean, daughter of longtime UUAA congregant Kathy McLean is now available in the InSpirit UU Book Shop.

In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, the Unitarian Universalist Retired Ministers and Partners Association launched what would become the Rainbow History Project, convening two groundbreaking conferences and creating a digital archive to preserve LGBTQIA+ Unitarian Universalist history. Defiantly Joyful grows out of that important effort to honor and reckon with that history.
This collection brings together personal stories from LGBTQIA+ Unitarian Universalists, both religious professionals and laypeople, across a wide spectrum of identities and experiences. Read an excerpt or look to purchase the book here
