Summer Food Sharing /Learning about Growing Hope

June and July and August
The Food Justice Team will have a table in the Social Hall most Sundays throughout the summer and will again provide space for food sharing, so stop by! We urge you to bring seedlings and excess produce from your garden to share. You can also help yourself to other congregants’ donations!

About Growing Hope
Julius Buzzard, executive director of Growing Hope in Ypsilanti, was the Food Justice Team’s guest speaker for the June Social Justice Connection. Growing Hope advocates for food as a human right through all they do, such as running the Ypsilanti Farmers Marketplace, their Urban Farm, their programs to teach people how to garden, their seed libraries, youth internships and more. You can learn more about Growing Hope by visiting their website here.
Every Tuesday, 10:00am to noon, June 30 to July 28, they are holding youth volunteer days. These days teach farm skills and garden education for youth ages 11 to 17. Register online here: Youth Volunteer Days at the Growing Hope Urban Farm | Growing Hope
The Food Justice Team is organizing a tour of Growing Hope’s farm and facilities. If interested in touring, contact the Food Justice team at foodjustice@uuaa.org
