An Opportunity to Use Your Experience as a Caregiver Companion
“Caregiver Companions” is a program offered through Dementia Friendly Services (formerly Dementia Friendly Saline, the organization that offers the memory cafes at UUAA twice a month). The program provides one-on-one support for primary caregivers of a person with dementia with the goal to connect caregivers to a dedicated companion who will provide a listening ear, a shoulder to lean on, words of wisdom and encouragement, and lessons learned during their own personal caregiving experiences.
Current Caregivers
Are you the primary caretaker for a loved one with dementia? Could you benefit from a supportive, encouraging, non-judgmental companion? This is a free service to all primary caregivers.
Future Companions
Do you have experience caring for a loved one? Would you like to use your experience to help someone else on the journey? Dementia caregiving experience is helpful but not required. Contact pastoralcare@uuaa.org, and you will be provided the contact information to participate as a caregiver companion or to request one.
