Green Corner: Farewell to Foam Act
We all hate Styrofoam, right? It can’t be reused, it doesn’t recycle or biodegrade. When it breaks into little pellets, it gets ingested by—and kills—birds and sea creatures.
Last month SB 3440, the Farewell to Foam Act, was introduced into the US Senate. This bill bans the use of expanded polystyrene in food service products. Let’s push Michigan’s US senators to support this bill. You can click here to sign a petition, or contact their offices directly.
Better yet … State legislatures often get things done faster. In fact, 11 states have already banned or limited expanded polystyrene. Write your State senator and representative and ask them to support legislation to stop this forever plastic! Click here to find their contact info.
