Green Corner: How to Evaluate Green Solutions

Global warming is real, and how to stop climate change is discussed (almost) everywhere. Big companies regularly run ads about their “environmentally healthy” actions, but when is it a legitimate solution versus when is it “greenwashing”?

One has to be cautious in evaluating solutions. Is there any real value, for example, in buying carbon offsets for highly polluting air travel? Is DTE’s MIGreen Power program actually reducing greenhouse gas emissions? Consider the source; who’s offering the solution?
