Restorative Justice

Restorative Justice

Sunday, February 15, After Both Services, Social Hall

Thank you for your ongoing support in helping to fill our baskets for returning citizens.

After long incarcerations, these men and women often have immediate needs for household items, toiletries, etc. We are getting ready to provide baskets for at least 10 returning citizens. We could still use toiletries for men and women, African American and White products as well as laundry detergent, large toothpastes, batteries for flashlights, oven mitts, sponges, wash cloths, and. You can bring donations to the RJ table in the Social Hall on Sunday, February 1 and February 15.

We begin our engagement with the 2026-2027 UUA Congregational Study Action Issue (CSAI): Abolition, Transformation, and Faith Formation with a recommended reading by Mariame Kaba titled WE D. To learn more about the topic, the Church of the Larger Fellowship recommends reading “We Do This ‘Til We Free Us” by Mariame Kaba, an abolitionist organizing and transforming justice. There are free books to borrow at the restorative justice table on Sunday, February 1 and February 15. We will begin a congregational read and discussion in the spring. Please check out other ideas and recommendations from this link.

The women at Huron Valley continue to work with one of our volunteers to produce an extraordinary newsletter quarterly. Please read the last edition.

Please join us to learn and be part of the effort to foster healing, reparation, and transformation. Contact us at restorativejusticeinfo@uuaa.org.
